What if the foundation of a stronger community is everyone coming together to nurture every child and youth?

In Bantayan, this shared vision is taking shape through ALIMA Bantayan, a community-driven platform that brings together families, educators, youth leaders, barangays, and local partners to ensure that every child and youth receives the support they need to thrive at every stage of life.

Launched through the collective efforts of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI), the Local Government of Bantayan, and community partners, ALIMA, which means to nurture, serves as a shared platform for collaboration, connecting programs on early childhood care and development, basic education, and youth development into one coordinated community effort.

The initiative responds to a common challenge faced by many communities: while programs for children and young people already exist, they are often implemented separately, limiting opportunities for collaboration and making it difficult for families to fully access available services.

By creating a common platform, ALIMA Bantayan strengthens coordination among stakeholders, clarifies shared responsibilities, and encourages greater community participation in supporting children from early childhood through adolescence.

More than a launching event, this program represents a long-term commitment to building a community where parents, teachers, Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) workers, youth organizations, barangay leaders, and local institutions work together toward a common goal: raising healthier, better educated, and socially responsible children and youth.

The launch also introduced the different services and opportunities available to families through interactive learning booths, community exhibits, and engagement activities that encouraged participants to learn, connect, and take an active role in child and youth development.

A highlight of the event was the Community Commitment Activity, where families, community leaders, educators, youth representatives, and partner organizations pledged their support in creating an environment where every child can grow, learn, and succeed.

Through ALIMA Bantayan, the community envisions a future where services are better connected across every stage of a child’s development, awareness of available programs continues to grow, and every stakeholder understands the role they play in shaping the next generation.

For RAFI, this reflects the belief that lasting change happens when communities themselves become the driving force behind development. By strengthening local ownership, encouraging active participation, and integrating existing systems, ALIMA Bantayan is designed to grow beyond a single event into a sustained community movement that nurtures healthier children, stronger learners, and empowered young people.

Because when an entire community chooses to nurture its people, every member has a greater opportunity to thrive.
