The Kool Adventure Camp of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI-KAC) reached a milestone last June by conducting its 1,000th camp, nearly 20 years since it started running programs that have molded more than 50,000 campers to be leaders of change through powerful experience.

The milestone camp — a three-day Student Leaders’ Program and Staff Development Program held last June 18 to 20, 2018 — was participated in by 103 student leaders and teacher of the Mary Help of Christians School (MHCS). It was conducted by facilitators from KAC’s Youth Development Program at the KAC Adventure Education Center in Balamban.

MHCS has been KAC’s partner in empowering Salesian educators and leaders since 2016.

KAC treated the campers to lunch, followed by a thanksgiving mass, handing of the Certificate of Partnership, and giving of Camp 1,000 gifts.

“KAC does not promise that you will be able to conquer all your problems just like the way you conquered all of the dragons here in the camp. What we can promise you is that you will have something to take courage from,” said KAC Camp Director Marie Sol Gonzalvo in her inspirational message.

The Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. President and Chief Operating Officer, Dominica Chua congratulated KAC through a video that was shown during the celebration.

“Camp 1,000 is a very inspiring accomplishment and such a very good achievement. But we should always look at the impact of the number of people whose lives has been transformed because of our trainings,”

“I hope that we were able to transform more lives, build the right character, unlock potentials of the youth, and lead and guide them to become good citizens and leaders of this country. Continue building more milestones in the future.” Chua said.

A signing of Memorandum of Agreement for Partnership between KAC and MHCS was also done.

“Camp 1,000 is a milestone that proves the dedication, love and fidelity and passion of (KAC) to the dream of Sir Bobby — the dream he has for the young leaders of our country, of our society. This impact the lives of not only the young people but also in the lives of thousands of educators who have journeyed in KAC like us,” said MHCS principal and KAC alumni camper Sr. Claudia Mae “Meolli” Deypalan, FMA during the celebration.

Alumni MHCS camper Sarah Mae “Tres” Yares was equally grateful.

“To be part of KAC is such an honor. KAC helped me to be bold and persistent in doing my daily task, which is serving the community, school and especially God. It encouraged me to [just] keep going in spite of all the dragons I may encounter in life. KAC does not just offer fun-filled experiences but also lifetime lessons.” she said.

The Kool Adventure Camp of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI-KAC) is the first and only fully dedicated Adventure Education Center in the Philippines. RAFI-KAC equips organizations and individuals with the character, competence, and citizenship to be leaders of change through powerful learning experiences.
