The RAFI Toastmasters Club (TMC) inducted its new members and installed a new set of officers for the toastmaster year 2018 to 2019. Held last August 24, 2018 at the Casa Gorordo Museum grounds, the theme of the ceremony was “Old Meets New” which signifies the turning over of leadership to the new set of officers.
Division I Director Mark Elardo, DTM, graced the event together with District 75 administrative manager and the club’s mentor, Aquilisa Chan. Both led the installation of the new set of officers who will be leading the club until June 2019.
Mega Cebu Project Officer and former RAFI TMC VP for Education Elizar Sabinay Jr. will lead the club as the new president. “RAFI TMC’s only direction is up,” Sabinay said.
Joni Joy Dumasig, RMF Research and Product Development Officer and former RAFI TMC president, is the incoming VP for Education. RAFI Risk Management Specialist Kris Jordan Seville is the new VP for Membership while Mega Cebu Project Assistant Lord Anjelo Guia is VP for Publications. Rowell Casas, RAFI Internal Audit sits as the VP for Finance while Tatum Navarro of RMF is the new Secretary. Lastly, RAFI-EDU Senior Program Officer Maria Rizza Labao and RAFI-DACF Program Officer Cliff Café are the new Sergeant at arms of the club.
“For last year, we made it a goal to be able to receive at least a Distinguished Club Award from Toastmasters International. And we are glad to be able to achieve that, with the help of my vibrant and enthusiastic co-officers,” Dumasig said.
Distinguished Club Award is the award given to a club upon reaching five of the 10 Distinguished Club Program (DCP) goals established by Toastmasters International.
“(Sabinay) has always been a great support of RAFI TMC. Even as VP-Ed last year, he really set out a proactive role by always reminding the club members of our DCP goals. And I think with his leadership this year, we will also be able to receive not just the DCP but already the Selected Distinguished Club award,” she added.
RAFI TMC started in 2016. With the club already having 15 members, it continues to grow as more recruits are coming in from the Culture & Heritage Unit of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI-CHU) and the Corporate Solutions team.
