Day care pupils in three barangays in Argao town will start the incoming school year in new facilities.

The Dolores Aboitiz Children’s Fund of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI-DACF), in partnership with the local government unit (LGU) of Argao, turned over three child development centers in Barangays Casay, Gutlang, and Mabasa last February 28, 2018.

It was in Barangay Casay where the Certificates of Completion and Acceptance were given to the partner barangays, and a Certificate of Recognition was given to the Municipality of Argao for the leadership and financial counterpart of the project.

The three centers bring to 10 the total number of centers that RAFI-DACF has turned over in Argao.

Atty. James M. Abadia, RAFI Vice President for Social Development, was the keynote speaker. The event was attended by the RAFI-DACF team and local stakeholders headed by Mayor Stanley S. Caminero.

Early Childhood Care and Development Education is the main advocacy of RAFI-DACF. This is primarily because according to studies, 50% of a child’s brain development happens during the first four years. The other 30% happens when the child reaches eight years old.

A study conducted by the RAFI-DACF team last 2010 in the Province of Cebu showed that many of the Child Development Centers in Cebu are either dilapidated or needs repair. This is why the RAFI-DACF team initiated to partner with LGUs in Cebu Province for the Child Development Center Construction and Play Facility Project.

The Dolores Aboitiz Children’s Fund of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation (RAFI-DACF) aims to improve Early Childhood Care and Development condition at the grassroots level by providing capabilities to the Local Government Units to effectively track children’s development and by constructing quality early learning centers. Its Grants Program also supports initiatives promoting the welfare and development of children in all ages.
