To help traffic enforcers address the worsening traffic situation, the Subcommittee on Transport and Traffic Management of the Metro Cebu Development and Coordinating Board – Research, Program, and Organizational Development (MCDCB-RPOD) organized a five-day traffic enforcement training last November 2017.
The training served as a preliminary activity to the proposed Metro Cebu Traffic Enforcers Academy to be launched this year.
Headed by MCDCB-RPOD Subcommittee Vice Chairperson Engr. Lynn Madrona and Engr. Cindylyn Pepito of DENR-EMB 7, the seminar aimed to educate traffic enforcers from local government units (LGUs) in Metro Cebu on the comprehensive approach to traffic management.
After the rationale, expectation setting workshop, and a pre-evaluation survey on the first day conducted by Engr. Madrona and Ms. Corazon Yrog-Irog, respectively, a series of lectures and workshops followed in the following days.
Primary participants were traffic enforcers, old and new hires, from 10 LGUs of Metro Cebu. The facilitators from the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO), headed by Yrog-Irog, conducted and facilitated the lectures and workshops.
These lectures covered different topics in traffic management, including Traffic Codes, Traffic Violations, Traffic Law Enforcement, Traffic Violation Citation, and Traffic Accident Sketching. To make the workshop more effective, the participants were deployed to the field to demonstrate what they have learned.
To culminate the training, participants were awarded with certificates. The organizers also presented their tokens to the CCTO team for their support in facilitating the whole seminar and workshop.
