The Kabilin Center to serve a ‘tasteful’ exhibition this May

The Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. (RAFI) through The Kabilin Center (TKC) will host another relevant exhibition that will showcase a feast of our culinary heritage.

This exhibition, dubbed as “Around the Table: Haon sa Sugbuanong Lasa” and curated by Alyssa Selanova, will highlight traditional Cebuano dishes, cooking techniques, and the cultural significance of food in Cebuano society through immersive displays, interactive exhibits and storytelling. It also aims to address the challenges currently facing the preservation and promotion of Cebuano culinary heritage in an era of globalization and changing food trends.

Researchers from the CEBloom Operations (formerly known as RAFI’s Culture and Heritage Unit) went around Cebu province to personally interview 41 local food artisans from 20 towns. This gave them the opportunity to witness and document the preparation and cooking process of every dish. Some food items include culinary favorites, whether on a regular dining day or during occasions, such as Inasal (lechon) na Baboy, native chicken, buwad, vegetable-based dish, and kakanin. The list can just go on.

The recipe wouldn’t be complete without the narratives that do not only celebrate our local flavors but also preserve history, educate the public, and reinforce cultural identity.

An exclusive viewing for invited guests is slated this April 30, 2025. While true to its commitment to being an accessible cultural center, this exhibition at TKC will also open to public from May 1, 2025 until September 2025. Entrance fee details will be announced soon. For more information, please visit ‘The Kabilin Center’ Facebook page.
