Applications for project proposals extended to until June 30, 2022

Emphasizing on the importance of early childhood development through a community play-based learning approach for children ages 1-8 years old in Cebu, the Dolores Aboitiz Children’s Fund of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. (RAFI-DACF) is now accepting project proposals from May 13 -June 13, 2022, for early childhood education programs.

This year, RAFI DACF aims to continue providing funding opportunities to projects and programs of organizations, agencies, and academic institutions based in Cebu whose focus is on Early Childhood Education. Driven with the goal to increase percentage of school-ready children aged 1-8 years old, RAFI DACF aims to enable more communities to provide quality early childhood services to disadvantaged children.

The grant implementation hopes to realize improvements in the early childhood development status and achieve the following interventions and activities with the grantees: construction of playgrounds, supervised neighborhood plays groups for far-flung areas, conduct of activity sessions and home-based program for early childhood development.

According to the data from RAFI DACF’s Community Development Center Infrastructure Study, “a play-based, early childhood education equips the child’s cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development. It widens children’s imagination, and we need to provide them with support and materials to improve their imagination and creativity. Through quality and efficient early childhood education, the child is prepared and trained to tackle and accomplish schoolwork, to communicate and comprehend emotions and to discover their capabilities.”

“Through this grant system, we want to financially assist and technically support these organizations as they help children unfold and grow with their individual skills and talents. DACF wants to fuel these organizations to continue to mold and uphold Cebuano children. We at DACF remain constant with our overall vision of enabling communities to champion their children by protecting their rights, welfare and development for them to achieve their full potential,” said Jenny Lea Menchavez, Junior Executive Director of RAFI DACF.

Menchavez hopes that this long running program of providing funding opportunities to early childhood projects will continue to touch and reach more communities and create a space for their children to grow into becoming responsible and active members of the community in the future.

Eligible programs or projects will be granted one year assistance with a support of five hundred thousand (Php 500,000.00) to one million pesos (Php 1,000,000.000) per project or program per year through DACF’s Development Fund.
