While towns in the seventh congressional district boast some of Cebu’s most famous tourist destinations like the majestic Kawasan Falls in Badian or the vibrant underwater seascapes of Moalboal, there are several lesser-known tourist spots that would satisfy any nature lover or adventure seeker’s interest.
In order to attract more tourists to the district and ensure that sites in other towns are included in their itinerary, representatives from each of the district’s eight towns brainstormed several circuit tour packages that would showcase the best that the district has to offer.
Last September 11, the technical working group of the Integrated Area Development Program of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI-IAD), made up of representatives from the eight municipalities, convened for a workshop facilitated by Cebu Provincial Tourism Officer Boboi Costas, and RAFI to formulate appropriate circuit tour packages. Riza Macaibay, senior tourism operations officer of the Department of Tourism Region 7, was also present and provided inputs and advice to the group.
The group came up with three circuit tourism packages with the following themes — Eco-Tour, Culinary and Wellness, and Heritage. The group will then further identify projects needed to prepare the sites for tourist arrivals by the circuit tours’ target launching date in September 2019.
The circuit tour is aligned with the district’s vision to become “the center for sustainable tourism in the Philippines by 2028.” The formulation of circuit tour packages is one of the identified core processes in the realization of this vision.
