Preparations are underway for the upcoming district-wide strategic planning and visioning workshop in Cebu’s seventh congressional district.

Plans for this activity were discussed by the leadership of the seventh district, the Province of Cebu, and the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) during the third Adhoc District 7 Council meeting last March 9. The meeting was hosted by the Municipality of Ginatilan and coincided with the celebration of the feast day of St. Gregory the Great, the town’s patron saint.

During this meeting, The Integrated Area Development Program of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. (RAFI-IAD) Executive Director Anton Dignadice oriented seventh district Rep. Peter John Calderon, the seventh district Provincial Board Members, and the district’s local chief executives on the asset-mapping process, the method in which data would be gathered from the district’s eight municipalities. Atty. James Abadia, RAFI Vice President for Social Development, provided an overview and rationale of the planned strategic planning and visioning session which will guide the district in its development. Also present during the meeting was Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III.

The Integrated Area Development (IAD) program team will continue to work with the designated asset-mapping teams of the district’s eight local government units (LGUs) to gather, validate, and consolidate data regarding the identified sectors of tourism and agriculture. The output of the asset mapping process will be used by the leadership for evidence-based decision-making regarding the district’s development.

The RAFI-IAD Program provides LGUs with technical assistance towards socio-economic development.
