The Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) and the Kapwa Ko, Mahal Ko (KKMK) signed a Memorandum of Agreement last August 31 to upscale and increase the reach of Panggaa Sab Ko program.
The agreement was signed by the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of RAFI, Jon Ramon Aboitiz together with the President of (KKMK) Board of Trustees Margarita V. Osmeña.
The project will be funding 35 children—20 Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL) cases and 15 Other Types of Cancer (OTOC) cases—which is over and above the usual 30 children capacity, making the KKMK beneficiaries to 65 children in total.
The Pangga-a Sab Ko Program of KKMK is a medical and social assistance program that assists children with cancer aged 0-16.
Under the Pangga-a Sab Ko Program, KKMK usually caters ALL cases since it has higher chances of survival. With the partnership with RAFI, KKMK now caters children with OTOC cases.
For ALL cases, 19 patients were already enrolled out of the 20 slots that were given. Of the 19 beneficiaries enrolled, 13 are male and 6 are female. The 69 percent of the total population ages 0 to 6 while the remaining 31 percent of the population ages 7 to 16.
These children were provided with chemotherapeutic drugs, antibiotics, vitamins, and other medical supplies needed by the patients on chemotherapy and on admission.
Chemotherapy procedures, laboratory tests, blood transfusion, and hospital bill were also responded.
For the OTOC cases, six patients were enrolled during the period. The 50 percent of the population were male and the other half were female. These children were also provided with the same assistance that was given to ALL patients.
The bi-annual progress monitoring report will be conducted on April 11, 2018 at the Eduardo Aboitiz Development Studies Center.
The Dolores Aboitiz Children’s Fund of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation (RAFI-DACF) aims to improve Early Childhood Care and Development condition at the grassroots level by providing capabilities to the Local Government Units to effectively track children’s development and by constructing quality early learning centers. Its Grants Program also supports initiatives promoting the welfare and development of children in all ages.
