True to its purpose of providing efficient learning environment to the school children of Cebu, the Education Development Unit of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI-EDU) conducted final inspections for 20 classrooms in two municipalities.
RAFI-EDU partnered with the Municipality of Balamban with the endeavor of giving the best of school experience for their school kids, including a more conducive-to- learning school environment. The construction of 9 classrooms started last May and come to completion early January this year.
The final inspection and exit conference took place last January 26 with the presence of the school community, local government unit (LGU) representatives, parents, and students. The total cost of the project totals to Php 9 million, with the labor counterpart of the municipality totaling to Php 2,025,000 under the School Rehabilitation Program.
“We are so happy with the new classrooms, and we are thankful to our LGU for their support. RAFI has been a blessing to us, and we are looking forward to another partnership,” said Dioscoro Sasing, school head of Biasong Elementary School.
RAFI-EDU doesn’t just provide newly-built classrooms but also gives importance to preservation and restoration of Gabaldon buildings. In partnership with the Cebu Provincial Government and the LGU of Catmon, a 12-classroom 1939 Gabaldon was restored.
Last January 23, along with the school community and LGU representatives, another final inspection and exit conference were conducted. RAFI and the Cebu Government shared the same percentage of 40 percent of P 2,411,242.80 while the LGU of Catmon gave a 20 percent share of Php 1,205,621.40, totaling the project cost to Php 6,028,107. The project started last November 2016.
The final inspection and exit conference activity give a good opportunity for stakeholders to discuss how the project went and to appreciate everyone’s contribution during the implementation. The turn-over ceremonies of the classrooms will be scheduled this February.
