The Education Development Unit (EDU) started a series of training for the top ten school finalists as well as for lower-achieving schools for both elementary and secondary levels.
The said capability building component of the Seal of Excellence in Education Development (SEED) program provides opportunities for the participating schools to improve their performance in Key Result Areas (KRA) in school governance.
The goal of these trainings is to capacitate the school stakeholders on the areas identified to be points for improvement based on the SEED assessment results.
EDU, in partnership with the Kool Adventure Camp (KAC), held their first capacity building with ‘Games and Initiatives integrated in Teaching Strategies’ last September at South Pole Central Hotel. It was attended by 46 teachers from the elementary and secondary levels.
The training aims to help teachers know different experiential teaching strategies to encourage an engaged-learning process whereby students ‘learn-by-doing,’ while, the teachers learned how to craft lesson plans which show integration of games in their lessons.
“The most important learning I got from the activity are the games introduced during the session because they are new to me and I find them very applicable in the classroom. This can serve as a motivation in the learning process of the students. I also hope that more teachers will experience this kind of workshop”, one of the teacher participant shared.
