The Office of Humanitarian Relations and Services (OHRS) is the resource unit of the Foundation where technical, financial, and consultancy services are provided and extended to People's Organizations (POs) and other organizations in and outside the Province of Cebu. The unit, which aims to improve human life and conditions in the community, has interventions in the following areas: education, health, housing/shelter, skills training, and funding assistance.

Projects

The 60 million School Repair and Rehabilitation Project repaired the old and dilapidated classrooms and gave school children a safe and conducive learning environment.

It is a joint undertaking of the Department of Education-Cebu Province Division, Local Government Units in Cebu Province, the Parents-Teachers-Community Association (PTCA) and RAFI.

The first phase launched in 2004, repaired and rehabilitated 258 classrooms in 75 schools from 22 municipalities. The second phase that starts in 2008 will cover at least 39 public elementary schools. The Foundation also explores the possibilities of expanding the project outside the Province of Cebu.

In the project's community-partnership and ownership scheme, RAFI provides the construction materials, the LGUs and the PTCAs, labor requirements.

Other projects

Among the literacy projects supported by OHRS are the Early Childhood Development Program for the recipient tribal group, education for children-in-conflict with the law, academic mentoring program for public school students, among others.

RAFI also supports projects that address the health concerns on medical equipment, facilities, and medicines. Among the recipients of these are the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC), Davao Medical Center, and various child and elderly caring institutions.

RAFI supports the provision of shelter and housing to the disadvantaged members of the society as well as programs for skills training for select groups. It also extends financial support to various groups that are working on programs and projects that promote the well-being of communities through access to social serv
