The Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) joined the annual celebration of the feast of St. John the Baptist in Parian, Cebu City last June 24.

RAFI’s participation is part of its commitment to preserve and extend the tradition of the Gorordo family who resided in the Casa Gorordo Museum until the historical structure was acquired by RAFI in 1980.

The Cofradia de San Juan Bautista, a group of devotees of St. John the Baptist, held a three-day or “triduum” novena in the Casa Gorordo Museum.

On the day of the feast of the patron saint, the Cofradia de San Juan Bautista dined with their guests on the museum grounds.
Religious relics like the old carrozas and the statues of saints, which were taken care of by RAFI, were used during the fiesta procession.
RAFI through the Cultural Heritage Program (CHP) celebrates the feast of St. John the Baptist and other house traditions like the Sinúg and the Semana Santa every year.
“RAFI hopes that, by becoming involved in such events, it will induce awareness of the significance of heritage to the public, especially the local community,” CHP Executive Director Jocelyn Gerra said.
